Endocannabinoids

Endocannabinoids are compounds that the body produces to interact with the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS is a collection of receptors and chemicals that interact with each other and help maintain homeostasis in the body.

The main two types of endocannabinoids are anandamide and 2-Arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG). Anandamide is produced in the brain, while 2-AG is found in the central nervous system and immune cells.

These two compounds bind to receptors on cell membranes, which then trigger a cascade of chemical reactions that help regulate processes like appetite, mood, memory, and pain sensation.
